The story of Noble Dairy was initiated by Karim Patel in 1935. With an aim to be a preferred name in the dairy business.
Karim Patel was born and brought up in Patan, Gujarat India. Ambition to build his own solid enterprise drove him to get out of Patan and move to Mumbai.
He learned the ropes of dairy farming with a dairy farmer who owned a 100 buffaloes, he worked hard day and night, all the while fueling his dream to start his own enterprise someday.
And that someday came sooner than expected. The owner, who took special care of Karim, magnanimously supported him with 7 buffaloes.

And thus, started Karim Patel’s independent business.
He had learnt that in order to have a sustained business, taking care of buffaloes like his own children, was going to be critical to the success of his dairy business.
As he grew his farm and kept buying more buffaloes, his sons were getting educated in the basics of dairy farming, while finishing their education.
His son, Mohammed Patel, after his college, received a scholarship to study Business Management at The Husson University, Bangor, USA.
Receiving a fully paid scholarship, and that too from an International University of repute was a moment of pride for the whole family. He studied hard at Husson University. He was eager to return to his homeland post his degree and serve his country – enriched with principles of business management.
Upon returning to India, he started soon and in earnest began formulating business plans to expand his father’s business.
He began collaborating within the dairy farming community and gradually earned himself respect, within the community and amongst his customers.
Karim Patel’s values were running in his bloodstream, and with the modern concepts he had learned, he was waiting to expand.
Mumbai was Bombay then, and in the late 60s, the city was growing. Migrant population was pouring in, infrastructure was developing. Demand for milk was increasing rapidly. Opportunities were presenting themselves and Mohammed Patel grabbed them with both hands.
The Government of Maharashtra established Aarey Milk Colony as the hub for all buffalo-milk farms. And Mohammed Patel made Aarey his hub in 1951 and thus Noble Dairy was conceived and formed.
He strongly believed that building a dairy business was his God-bestowed purpose and destiny.
The values of grit, dedication and cohesion were deeply instilled by his Father. And he was applying them manifold.
Fortunately for him, all his three sons took active interest in the family dairy business, which spurred his ambition thrice over. He knew he was unstoppable now.
He knew he wanted to groom his sons better than he ever was. He trained them on the basics of dairy farming from a very young age. Dairy business is not learnt. It is earned, he said.
He inculcated in them an emotional connection with the farm: the cattle and its people, the processes and the systems.
In Aarey, the systems were traditional. It involved manual labour. The third generation of Patel Brothers did not shy away from getting their hands dirty. They started developing his existing farms and also acquired new farms in parts of Maharashtra.
They now eat, breathe and live dairy business.
We didn’t know marketing and sales at first. But my second brother, Yunus took up the challenge.
He gained us large Clients like Naturals Ice Cream and other local sweet manufacturers and brands, said Irfan, the youngest Patel Brother. We also expanded to opening company-owned exclusive retail brand outlets called Patanwala Dairy outlets in suburban Mumbai.
We always engage with the best in the business, adopt sophisticated techniques and demarcate work-streams. While, Imtiyaz lead farm management, Yunus handled sales and marketing, I was in-charge of expansion, innovation & insights and overall management, said Irfan.
Dedication of Yunus, Expertise of Imtiyaz and Riguor of Irfan.
The story of Noble Dairy does not end here.
Our story is still being written, resound the Patel Brothers.
